Discoveries — Situations & Culture

Two ways to step beyond the textbook.

Alongside the main A1 → B2 path, FaYu offers two kinds of special lessons that go outside the standard curriculum: situations — which throw you into the everyday French people actually speak — and culture spotlights — which decode the customs and unspoken rules that make France France. Lessons to dip into whenever you want a break from grammar.

1

Real-life situations

A situation is a mini-series set in one specific context: a restaurant, a couple's argument, a session of gossip with friends. Each one follows a character or two and offers the same dialogue at several levels (A1, A2, B1, B2). You see exactly how your way of speaking grows up alongside your French — and you pick up the real vocabulary that French people use in that situation.

2

Culture spotlights

A culture spotlight is not a grammar lesson — it's a deep dive into one French specificity that can surprise, baffle, or charm foreign learners. La bise, tutoiement, the ritual of a long French meal, French humour, laïcité, the French relationship to work… Things no textbook really explains, but that make all the difference between speaking French and living in French.
