★ Mock exam · DELF A1.1

Your first DELF A1.1-style exam

The DELF (Diplôme d'études en langue française) is the official French-language certification issued by the French Ministry of Education. A1.1 is the entry-level "DILF" tier — the start of A1. This activity simulates the real exam format so you know what to expect.

📻 Listening comprehension · Compréhension orale

Task 1 — Understand a short message or instruction

Listen to the 5 short messages and match each one to a picture (a–e).

Suggested pictures: a) a red armchair — b) the sea and beach — c) a meeting / handshake — d) a clothing shop — e) a Paris apartment building.

Write your answers (Message → Picture a/b/c/d/e):

  1. Message 1 →
  2. Message 2 →
  3. Message 3 →
  4. Message 4 →
  5. Message 5 →

✏️ Compare your answers with a partner. We recommend correcting these together in class.

🗣️ Speaking · Production orale

Task 2 — Introduce yourself and other people

Scene 1. On the train, you start chatting with the passenger next to you. They are French — ask them about their name, city, profession, languages they speak…

Scene 2. Show them a photo of your family and introduce each person (who they are, what they do).

🎭 Role-play both scenes with your partner — entirely in French.

📖 Reading · Compréhension des écrits

Task 3 — Identify a person

Read the two text messages below and use them to identify a person among the people walking around the train station.

SMS 1 (from Max) Il est comment ton frère ? ("What does your brother look like?")
SMS 2 (from Tony) Il est grand, brun. Il porte un jean bleu, un tee-shirt jaune et un sac noir. Son train arrive à 14 h 50.

According to SMS 2, the brother is:

  1. What height?
  2. What hair?
  3. Jeans colour?
  4. T-shirt colour?
  5. Bag colour?
  6. Train arrival time?

💡 Tip: French uses the 24-hour clock by default — 14 h 50 = "2:50 pm".

✏️ Writing · Production écrite

Task 4 — Write a short message

You'd like to go to the restaurant Côté Sud (56 rue du Pré, 17160 Périgny — phone 05 46 55 74 03). Your friend Sébastien has emailed asking which restaurant to pick for the weekend. Reply to his email and suggest Côté Sud, including its practical details (address, phone, what kind of place it is).
